Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

Equality at Unicard

We’re proud to offer equal opportunities regardless of age, cultural background, disability, gender, marital status, nationality, political belief, race, religious or sexual orientation. We can only leverage this diversity by building an inclusive culture where everyone is respected, can be themselves and strive to be their best. That way we can build a better future for our employees, our partners, the communities we work in and our customers.

Diversity and Inclusion is at the heart of Unicard.  We would like to become the best employer for women in our sector by 2025 and have already achieved a 20% representation of women in a sector disposed predominantly towards men.

  • Armed Forces

Unicard is happy to recognise the skills and attributes that former Armed Forces personnel bring, and we have amongst our team’s former veterans and reservists. We also hire from other branches of disciplined government services such as Police, Ambulance and Fire Services both active and reservist. The family feel of Unicard helps settle and integrate our former services personnel very quickly.

  • LGBT+ Friends Network

Unicard recognise the need to support our colleagues on lesbian, gay, bi and trans (LGBT+) matters, whatever their background and wherever they are.  We encourage inclusion and celebrate diversity at work and in the community – all part of our approach to support our people to be at their best and have a great experience working here, recognising that we can play a part in making a positive difference to our workplace, to our customers and to the communities we’re part of.

  • Ability

Disability does not mean inability. Unicard champion an inclusive workplace that drives, supports & enables understanding of disability, allowing every colleague to thrive, without exception.  We do this by: Providing readily available support for people directly & indirectly affected by all types of disability. We actively seek to identify and break down any barriers and stigmas in this regard.

Unicard is a signatory of: The Race at Work Charter

The Race at Work Charter is designed to foster a public commitment to improving outcomes of BAME employees in the workplace. It consists of five principles to ensure organisations address the barriers to BAME recruitment and progression. Organisations that sign up to the charter are publicly committing to:

  • Appointing an Executive Sponsor for race
  • Capturing data and publicising progress
  • Ensuring zero tolerance of harassment and bullying
  • Making equality in the workplace the responsibility of all leaders and managers
  • Taking action that supports ethnic minority career progression
