Business Analyst
We are looking for a BA to work across tenders, new projects for existing customers, change requests, and internal product development.
Full Time - Wimborne, UK

Role Purpose

The Business Analyst is responsible for gathering requirements from customers and/or internal teams, analysing processes and systems, working with tech leads to plan out solutions, and creating documentation and specifications that enable development to takes place. They have a good working knowledge of the Unicard product suite to manage client expectations, and solid commercial understanding to manage scope creep. They work across tenders, new project for existing customers, change requests, and internal product development. The role will be primarily be based around our office in Bournemouth with the option for remote working a few days per week; it will also require occasional travel to the offices of our clients throughout the UK.

Key Accountabilities

  • Develop, prepare, and maintain documentation and understanding pertaining to business processes, systems operations, product development and other technical processes
  • Gather, analyse and verify requirements for completeness, consistency, feasibility and conformity to standards
  • Work with business and technical teams to research, review, and collect available technical information and requirements as basis for documentation
  • Work closely with developers to investigate design approaches, define technological approaches, and evaluate technical feasibility to assist with the architecture and design of new and current systems
  • Good communication with internal teams, particularly those with English as a second language
  • Manage the specification phase of projects according to Unicard’s Ways of Working and agile development best practices
  • Create user stories, technical specifications and other specification documents that are clear, concise, easy to understand, and well-formatted
  • Work with the product managers and tech leads to categorise and prioritise requirements based on user value, complexity, ease-of-implementation, strategic value, and other metrics
  • Represent Unicard in front of customers and partners with professionalism and competency
  • Manage client expectations about features, timescales and commercial agreements where relevant
  • Review and updating existing documentation to ensure its accuracy and relevance
  • Strong organisational skills, IT competency, written communication skills, teamwork skills, and attention to detail
  • Occasionally research and recommend technologies for system solutions by comparing advantages and disadvantages
  • Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in the requirements gathering process
  • Continuously improve knowledge of systems, customers and processes

Technical / Professional Expertise


  • At least two years experience as a Business Analyst in a technology or software company
  • Fundamental Business Analyst Skills
  • Experience delivering large scale complex projects
  • Experience of Data Integration and Migration projects
  • Experience of Network Infrastructures
  • Experience with Agile development practices
  • Face to face customer engagement experience at all levels
  • Experience with ticketing systems (e.g. JIRA, Gitlab) and knowledge sharing systems (e.g. Confluence, Sharepoint)
  • Excellent technical writing skills
  • Commercial acumen and sound business understanding
  • Competent IT skills - Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Presentable and articulate
  • A full UK driving license
