Scheme Implementation
UK Local Authority Solution

For schemes that have identified their implementation requirements, Unicard has the experience and products to implement new schemes or progress existing ones. For example:

  • Provision of services to define the detailed business processes within a scheme
    Unicard works together with the various organisations using the smart card to define how to improve the current business and operationa processes to maximise the benefits of card usage.

    Example: analysis of changes required in a public library to replace an existing bar code card by a contactless smart card.

  • Provision of complete scheme management infrastructures, with a complete range of scheme management systems.

    Example: provision or procurement of products to take a picture, register a new cardholder, print cards and handle future requests to replace cards.
  • Provision of application integration for the card scheme
    As Unicard has done extensive developments for local authorities, it has a growing portfolio of application integration modules, which can be reused or simply adapted to integrate with the main 3rd party systems used by local authorities. These cover library, leisure, transport concessions, PKI security and schools and the list is expanding all the time!

    Example: Unicard disposes of an existing module to integrate smart cards with a PKI system and CRM systems over an eGIF compliant interface. See www.smartpath .co.uk for a project where this has been used with an Entrust PKI infrastructure.
  • Specific services on customer request
    We can advise or procure on behalf of the customer, components or services required to operate a scheme, such as cards, application terminals and application development, registration services, bureau services and helpdesk services.
